Magnitude 4.6 quake rattles southern Iran

TEHRAN, May 21 (MNA) – A magnitude 4.6 earthquake struck near the town of Dargahan in Iran's southern Hormozgan province on Thursday.

The tremor was recorded at 13:26 local time with its epicentre at a depth of 20 km, according to Iran's national seismological centre. The coordinates were given as 55.97 degrees east and 27.18 degrees north.

No reports of damage or casualties had been received by the time the news was published. Earthquakes are common in Iran, which sits on several major fault lines.
